BURKITT lymphoma: Possible treatments
Relatively rare, Burkitt's lymphoma is a cancerous pathology that develops within B lymphocytes, a particular type of white blood cells. This form of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, known as the mature B-cell, proves to be particularly aggressive and should be taken care of as early as possible.

Burkitt lymphoma: Causes
Unlike many cancers, Burkitt's lymphoma is known to have a viral cause. Thus, the so-called endemic form of Burkitt lymphoma occurs as a result of Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) infection. This particular type reaches mostly children as well as teenagers, and focuses on the African continent. The non-endemic form affects Europe more and can also affect adults. This lymphoma then touches the abdominal cavity and intestine. Finally, immunodeficiency is a known risk factor for Burkitt lymphoma. Patients under immunosuppressive are the most concerned.

Burkitt Lymphoma: Treatments
Intensive chemotherapy is the primary treatment of Burkitt's lymphoma. The more early the cancer is detected, the greater the chances of survival (80%). Treatment is provided in a specialized cancer unit and takes place over a limited period of time. In most cases, chemotherapeutic agents are injected directly via the cerebrospinal fluid. But it is important to know that the recidivism rate is relatively high and that, in this case, the chances of survival are much less good.
